Alaska Right To Life And Planned Parenthood Announce Legislative Endorsements For 2012 General Election

As expected, Alaska Right To Life has announced their endorsements for the State Senate and House races in the 2012 general election. The endorsements are published on their PAC page, and are posted below (candidates who also picked up the Alaska Family Council endorsement are so indicated). For contrast, I've included the endorsements announced by Planned Parenthood. You can see that while all pro-life endorsements were given to Republicans, all pro-choice endorsements were given to Democrats except for one awarded to an official Independent candidate:

State Senate:
-- Senate B – Republican Pete Kelly over Democrat Joe Paskvan. Kelly also picked up the Alaska Family Council endorsement.
-- Senate D – Mike Dunleavy, who's unopposed.
-- Senate F – Republican Fred Dyson over Democrat Martin J. Lindeke.
-- Senate J – Republican Bob Bell over Democrat Hollis French. Bell also picked up the Alaska Family Council endorsement.
-- Senate L – Republican Kevin Meyer over Democrat Jacob O. Hale. Hale picked up the Planned Parenthood endorsement.
-- Senate N – Republican Cathy Giessel over "Independent" (Crypto-Democrat) Ron Devon. Devon picked up the Planned Parenthood endorsement.
-- Senate O – Republican Peter Micciche, who's unopposed.

State House:
-- District 7 – Republican Wes Keller, who's unopposed.
-- District 8 – Republican Shelly Hughes, who's unopposed.
-- District 9 – Republican Lynn Gattis over Democrat Blake Merrifield. Merrifield picked up the Planned Parenthood endorsement.
-- District 11 – Republican Bill Stoltze, who's unopposed.
-- District 13 – Republican Gabrielle LeDoux over Democrat Kay Rollison and Write-In Candidate (originally Republican) Barbara Bachmeier. Rollinson picked up the Planned Parenthood endorsement.
-- District 19 – Republican Anand Dubey over Democrat Lindsey Holmes. Holmes picked up the Planned Parenthood endorsement.
-- District 23 – Republican Bob Lynn over Democrat Lupe Marroquin. Marroquin picked up the Planned Parenthood endorsement.
-- District 33 – Republican Peggy Wilson over Democrat Matt Olsen and Non-Affiliated Candidate (originally Republican) Kyle Johansen. Olsen picked up the Planned Parenthood endorsement.

Despite rhetoric to the contrary, social issues still matter to much of the population. In the August primary election, eight of the 11 legislative candidates endorsed by Alaska Right to Life were successful. This indicates that Alaska Right to Life (ARTL) chooses carefully and wisely before awarding an endorsement. The difference between ARTL and the Alaska Family Council is anecdotal; while ARTL focuses primarily on abortion, AFC focuses on other issues such as marriage and homosexuality.

You can see the entire list of Planned Parenthood endorsements HERE. Here are their remaining endorsements:
