Plutocracy, Inc: Southern Poverty Law Center's Morris Dees Lives In Opulent Luxury Off The Ill-Gotten Gains Of His "Civil Rights" Lawsuits

Never has an organization been more misnamed than the so-called Southern Poverty Law Center. Certainly, there's not a hint of "poverty" in the life of its infamous chief counsel, Morris Dees, as you can see from the Montgomery Advertiser's photographic tour of the home Dees shares with Susan Starr. The photo above is just one of 60 posted on the Advertiser's website; see all the photos HERE. Photo number one is of the separate guest house, which alone is more impressive than most primary homes in Anchorage's Mountain View, Fairview, or Airport Heights neighborhoods. And if Dees' "Lawsuit Manor" is not sufficiently opulent, how about the endless array of objets d’art prolific throughout the place? For obvious reasons, the Advertiser did not provide the street address of Dees' mansion nor directions on how to find it.

And how did he manage to afford such opulent luxury? Not by bringing into the world an essential product or service such as Bill Gates did when he invented Microsoft. Gates is one of the few rich guys whose wealth I absolutely do not begrudge. No, Morris Dees set the stage for acquiring his wealth by income transfer; namely, suing people. Below is a list of the high-profile lawsuits of note (Dees was involved in all of them except one):

-- In 1981, Dees successfully sued the United Klans of America and won a $7 million judgment for the mother of Michael Donald, a black lynching victim in Alabama. Payment of the judgment bankrupted the UKA and resulted in its national headquarters being sold to help satisfy the judgment.

-- In 1991, Dees obtained a judgment of $12 million against Tom Metzger's White Aryan Resistance. Three skinheads beat an Ethiopian immigrant to death in Portland, OR; using the spurious doctrine of vicarious liability, a jury decided that Metzger was personally responsible for $5.5 million of the judgment. Metzger lost his house as a result of the judgment.

-- In 2001, Dees obtained a judgment of $6.5 million judgment against Pastor Richard Butler and the original Aryan Nations. The Aryan Nations was forced to give up their Idaho compound to satisfy the judgment.

-- In 2001, Dees obtained a judgment of $120,000 against Jeff Berry and the American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. After serving a prison sentence, Berry was forced to sell his home in 2006 to satisfy the judgment.

-- In 2006, the SPLC obtained an $850,000 judgment against Casey Nethercott, who was accused of assaulting two illegal immigrants found on his ranch. The SPLC obtained Nethercott's ranch and turned it over to the illegal immigrants (Morris Dees was not directly involved in this case). Unlike the SPLC's other victims, Nethercott was not a white nationalist.

-- In 2008, the SPLC obtained a $2.5 million judgment against Ron Edwards and the Imperial Klans of America. This decision is still being contested.

Of course, Morris Dees did not use any of the proceeds from these judgments for his own personal benefit. But the fame and notoriety obtained from this pattern of judicial terrorism brought increased financial support to the SPLC, which in turn allowed Dees to pay himself the higher salaries necessary to afford such an opulent lifestyle. According to Charity Navigator, the SPLC recorded a total of $170,240,129 in net assets, and paid Dees a salary of $293,411 in 2008.

Poverty, my ass. The anti-racist racket is a sweet deal for these guys. Others weighing in with their own criticism of Dee's princely lifestyle include The Political Cesspool, VDARE, and the National Policy Institute.

Alaska Senate Candidate Joe Miller To Launch New T.V. Ads, Interviewed By Human Events, Unveils Hard-Hitting Immigration Reform Platform

Alaska Republican Senate candidate Joe Miller may be running 30 to 40 points behind in the polls against Lisa Murkowski, but apparently, like the famed American ship captain John Paul Jones of the Revolutionary era, he's just begun to fight. Politics Daily reveals that the Tea Party Express has just produced and is preparing to run two new T.V. ads on Miller's behalf. They're on YouTube, embedded below:

Joe Miller has also been interviewed by the prestigious Human Events magazine, which shows that he's acquiring national status. They've posted a part of the interview online. He discusses his basic political vision, his priorities for Alaska, and, most importantly, his differences with the incumbent Lisa Murkowski.

But most impressively, Joe Miller has seen how Arizona's new immigration enforcement law, SB1070, has struck such a responsive chord with so many ordinary Americans who not only do NOT benefit from our Open Borders policy, but have seen their jobs devalued and stolen by illegal immigrants as well as their neighborhoods and cities degraded by their presence. So he's crafted a hard-hitting no-nonsense platform designed to replicate the better parts of SB1070 while avoiding the more controversial aspects:

* Build a permanent border and deploy the necessary military and border security personnel secure it.
* No Amnesty for the people who broke our laws to come the U.S. Unlawful behavior cannot be rewarded.
* End the "Catch and Release" policy by making expedited removal of illegal aliens mandatory and require the completion of the US-VISIT entry-exit system, which uses biometric information to confirm the identity of foreign travelers entering and leaving the United States.
* Require employer verification of worker eligibility to work in the United States and stiffer punitive penalties for knowingly hiring illegal workers.
* Enact legislation declaring English as the official language.
* Limit birthright citizenship to the children of United States citizens and legal permanent residents.
* Deny certain federal funds to states that allow illegal immigrants to get driver's licenses.
* Deny federal education grants to public universities that violate the law by offering in-state tuition breaks for illegal immigrants.
* End all loopholes in federal law[s] that benefit illegal aliens, and those who profit from their illegal presence in the United States.

Surprisingly, ALIPAC has not extended an endorsement to Joe Miller yet, even though this platform basically mirrors their professed goals. This failure leads me to question William Gheen's stability and sincerity in fighting against illegal immigration. Gheen actually worked against other patriots promoting immigration reform in Arizona; Digger's Realm present the details in a series of posts beginning HERE.

The primary election ain't quite over yet. This could bring Joe Miller back within striking range of Lisa Murkowski.

U.S. Army Wikileaker Private Bradley Manning Outed As A Homosexual With A History Of Gay Rights Activism

According to a post on RedCounty, the Family Research Council (FRC) has revealed that the now-infamous Wikileaker, U.S. Army Private Bradley Manning, is a homosexual activist. The FRC cites a story in the U.K. Telegraph which indicated that not only does Manning has an extensive history of campaigning for gay, lesbian, and transgendered causes, but may have even been considering a sex change when he leaked military secrets on the Internet via Wikileaks. Once again, a foreign media source reports what the gutless, co-opted, celebrity-obsessed American national media hasn't the courage to touch.

According to the Telegraph, Manning engaged in gay rights activism before he joined the U.S. Army. The stereotypical son of a lovey-dovey British mother and a cold, distant, authoritarian American father, Bradley Manning moved to the U.K. after his parents' marriage dissolved. Susan Manning, 56, moved to the US in 1979 after marrying Bradley’s American father Brian Manning, a former serviceman who was based at the Cawdor Barracks in Brawdy, near Haverfordwest. Bradley Manning was born in Oklahoma but the couple divorced in 2001 and Mrs Manning moved back to Wales with her son, who sat his GCSEs (General Certificate of Secondary Education) at the Tasker Milward secondary school in Haverfordwest. Pictures on Bradley Manning's Facebook page include photos of him on school trips during his time in Wales and at a gay rights rally, where he is holding up a placard demanding equality on the battlefield.

It has not been reported whether Manning actually engaged in gay rights political activism in violation of DADT after he joined the U.S. Army. However, he was known to be open about his homosexuality. Manning's postings on Facebook were apparently a precursor to his release of information on Wikileaks. He began his postings on January 12th, 2010, saying: "Bradley Manning didn't want this fight. Too much to lose, too fast." At the beginning of May, when he was serving at a US military base near Baghdad, he changed his status to: "Bradley Manning is now left with the sinking feeling that he doesn't have anything left." Five days later he said he was livid after being lectured by ex-boyfriend, then later the same day said he was not a piece of equipment and was beyond frustrated with people and society at large. His tagline on his personal page reads: "Take me for who I am, or face the consequences!" A June 10th Washington Post story reveals Manning had earlier lost a stripe for striking a fellow soldier. Finally, Manning was arrested at the end of May on suspicion of leaking a video of a US helicopter attack, and quickly became the main suspect when the Afghan war documents were leaked earlier this week.

It appears that after his demotion, Bradley Manning felt he no longer had a future in the Army, and so he thought that by sharing classified information about his government's foreign policy, he might "actually change something."

The Pentagon, which is investigating the source of the leak, is expected to study Manning’s background to ascertain if they missed any warnings when he applied to join the US Army. The postings on his Facebook page, which has since been pulled, are also likely to form part of the inquiry. However, the revelation of Manning's sexuality has provided fresh justification to those who oppose relaxing DADT; the Family Research Council noted that "Manning's betrayal painfully confirms what groups like FRC have argued all along: the instability of the homosexual lifestyle is a detriment to military readiness. By foisting this agenda on our soldiers, the White House is not only jeopardizing the future of national security but compromising its present".

Bradley Manning is being held in solitary confinement in Vermont. He has been charged with violating Article 92 and Article 134 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice; you can review the specifications HERE. If convicted on all the charges, Manning could face a 52-year sentence.
