Consolidated List Of Ethics Complaints Filed Against Alaska Governor Sarah Palin Since August 2008

Post updated as of July 25th, 2009.

Update July 2nd: The Anchorage Daily News published an article stating that the ethics complaints have cost the state $296,000 to investigate to date.

Update June 22nd: The Associated Press published their own article listing ethics complaints HERE. Their list also includes complaints filed with agencies OTHER than the Alaska Personnel Board. Conservatives4Palin has their own list of ethics complaints HERE.

Update May 12th 9:37 P.M: Have included the following changes:
-- Listed the Anthony Martin ethics complaint for the first time. Just found out about it this evening from this report; no previous media references were found.
-- Combined the ethics complaint Sarah Palin filed on herself with the Petumenos Report, which directly resulted from this complaint.

The issue of ethics complaints against Alaska Governor Sarah Palin have taken on a life of their own and have become newsworthy in and of themselves. Fueling the controversy is the fact that the sheer number of complaints is creating a growing perception that these complaints are being used as a form of political warfare against the Governor by those who disagree with her.

Even the precise number of ethics complaints were ambiguous. According to a press release from the Governor's office announcing the quashing of the Sondra Tompkins complaint, Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein claims there have been 14 ethics complaints filed against the Governor. However, execution of an Anchorage Daily News story search using the search phrase "Sarah Palin ethics complaints" (without the quotes) reveals news stories attendant to 11 separate complaints. I since learned of the 12th complaint, filed by Anthony Martin. It is possible that Van Flein is counting the Branchflower and Wasilla Per Diem investigations as ethics complaints, since they were both ethics-related; this would bring the total to 14.

Only ethics complaints are listed. Other complaints against Palin, to include APOC, FEC, and an actual lawsuit filed by Andree McLeod, are not listed.

But I've found no resource which provides a basic one-stop list of all the complaints. Consequently, I've researched the information, and present a list of all the complaints I found, along with pertinent story links and PDF copies of the actual complaints whenever available. The list is presented in inverse chronological order, with the most recent complaint appearing first:

I have now added the Branchflower investigation and the Wasilla per diem investigation to this list at this time. Inclusion of those two brings the total to 14, per Thomas Van Flein's contention. However, I cannot verify that Van Flein counts those two on his list.
