CNN's Larry King Interviews Levi Johnston And His Family; Levi's Access To Tripp Restricted By Bristol Palin, May Seek Custody In Court

The Anchorage Daily News has published a short report on the interview with Levi Johnston and his family conducted by CNN's Larry King on April 22nd, 2009. The gist of the interview: Johnston hasn't seen his baby Tripp in a couple of weeks and he feels his right to access is being curtailed. Johnston hints that he would be willing to go to court to get custody of Tripp, but he doesn't want it to come to that. This is also being discussed on CNN's Political Ticker. Politico reports that Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton issued a statement ahead of the interview, saying that "Bristol is focused on going to college, raising Tripp, and advocating abstinence."

There is one CNN video and three YouTube videos embedded below. The CNN video is of Larry King and Levi Johnston, one-on-one. The YouTube videos have the second part of the interview, which include Levi's mother Sherry Johnston, and his sister Mercede. Unlike the other mainstream media interviews with Levi Johnston, this one is more worthy of coverage because Larry King is an acknowledged expert interviewer, with his show dating back to 1985. In contrast, Tyra Banks is nothing more than a higher-class version of Jerry Springer.

You can read the full written transcript of the entire interview HERE.

The CNN video embedded below contains only the one-on-one interview between Larry King and Levi Johnston; it does not contain the additional interview with Sheri Johnston and Mercede Johnston:

The next segment of the interview, including both Sheri and Mercede Johnston, is included in the three YouTube videos embedded below. Part 1:

Here's Part 2:

And here's Part 3:

Since the Palin Family, by virtue of Governor Sarah Palin's position, has preferential access to media (simply because the Governor is always newsworthy by definition), it is only fair to give Levi Johnston and his family a bit of a bump to compensate for that deficiency. Whether Levi Johnston should be hitting the talk show circuit like he has is a separate issue. Whether or not Bristol Palin should be granting visitation of Tripp to Levi Johnston is absolutely beyond debate; Levi deserves a full opportunity to exercise his paternal obligations and rights.

Sherry Johnston is facing felony charges of possession and distribution of a controlled substance. She has retained local celebrity attorney Rex Butler to represent her. She would not address the case on the program when asked.

  1. There goes Rex Butler's chances of being selected by Governor Palin to become the next Attorney General.

  2. so what is she is a oxycotin queen I'd still do her.
