Upcoming Candidate Forums In The Anchorage 2009 Municipal Election Campaign

Updated March 30th with information on KAKM Channel 7 debates.

Thanks to the Dan Sullivan campaign and the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, I've been able to assemble a good list of upcoming candidate forums for this municipal election campaign season. Assume free admission to events unless otherwise stated. Only candidate forums to which all candidates have been invited are listed; individual candidate fund-raising events can be found on the respective candidates' websites.

All listed events below will be for mayoral candidates, but some events may not include school board candidates.

-- Wednesday February 25th: Anchorage Education Association (AEA) Candidate Forum, Anchorage Mariott Downtown, Fairbanks Room, 820 W. 7th Ave., 4:30-7:30 P.M. Mayoral AND school board candidates.

-- Sunday March 1st: Alaska Library Association (Anchorage Chapter) Candidate Forum (specific info HERE), UAA Consortium Library, Room 307, 3211 Providence Dr., 6-7 P.M.

-- Wednesday March 4th: Mayoral Speed Dating, Anchor Pub & Club, 712 W. 4th Ave., 6-8 P.M.

-- Thursday March 5th: Hillside Area Community Councils Candidate Forum, O'Malley's on the Green, 3651 O'Malley Road, 7-9 P.M.

-- Friday March 6th: Bridge Builders of Anchorage & Hispanic Affairs Council of Alaska Candidate Forum, Fairview Recreation Center, 1121 E. 10th Ave., 5-7 P.M.

-- Monday March 9th: Anchorage Chamber of Commerce "Make it Monday" forum - Anchorage Mayoral Candidate Forum. Prepaid reservations strongly recommended.

-- Tuesday March 10th: Anchorage Downtown Rotary, Dena'ina Convention Center, 555 w. 5th Ave., 11:30 A.M. - 1:00 P.M.

-- Friday March 13th: Building Owners & Managers Association Forum, Hilton Hotel of Anchorage, 500 W. 3rd Ave., 11:30 A.M.-1:00 P.M.

-- Sunday March 15th: Anchorage Faith & Action - Congregations Together, Central Lutheran Church, 1420 Cordova St., 2-4 P.M.

-- Monday March 16th: Central Area Community Councils, Wendler Middle School, 2905 Lake Otis Parkway, 7-9 P.M.

-- Wednesday March 18th: Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau, Dena'ina Convention Center, 555 W. 5th Ave., 11:30 A.M.-1:00 P.M.

-- Wednesday March 18th: Southwest Area Community Councils, Mears Middle School, 2700 W. 100th Ave., 7-9 P.M.

-- Tuesday March 24th: Northwest Area Community Councils Forum, Spenard Recreation Center, 2020 W. 48th Ave., 7-9 P.M.

-- Thursday March 26th: Eagle River Area Community Councils Forum, Gruening Middle School, 9601 Lee St., 7-9 P.M.

-- Wednesday April 1st: School board candidates appear on KAKM Channel 7's "Running", from 7 P.M. to 10 P.M.

-- Thursday April 2nd: Mayoral candidates appear on KAKM Channel 7's "Running", from 7 P.M. to 10 P.M.
