Anchorage Police Seek Unknown Armed Robber Who Hit The Lucky Seven Mart In Midtown And Is Suspected In The In & Out Liquor Robbery The Day Before

The Anchorage Daily News reports that Anchorage Police are seeking an unknown armed robber caught on camera holding up the Lucky Seven Mart in Midtown Anchorage on Monday December 29th, 2008. They also believe he may have robbed In & Out Liquor on Benson Blvd on December 28th.

According to the clerk, the suspect, wearing a heavy winter jacket with the collar turned up to cover his face, walked through the door. The clerk was not put off by the face covering since the temperatures have been around -10F in Anchorage. But then the suspect produced a gun equipped with a silencer, and the clerk didn't even want to look at him for fear he would have been shot.

Because police believe the same suspect robbed the In & Out mart the previous day, they obtained surveillance video from that store and posted it on YouTube. The suspect appears white and heavyset, roughly 6 feet tall and in his late 30s or 40s. Along with the puffy, green nylon jacket, he wore blue jeans and tennis shoes.

I've also posted the video in the upper left corner of my sidebar directly beneath the Translation Utility, because this post will shortly be superseded and pushed down the queue by yet another Anchorage crime post.

Police say the man was seen leaving In & Out in a white four-door sedan, and still could be using it. They encourage anyone with information about the robberies to call 786-8900. You can also leave an anonymous tip, and be eligible for a cash reward, by calling Crime Stoppers at 561-7867 or by visiting Anchorage Crime Stoppers.
